Who Is Steven Spielberg?
The name, Steven Spielberg, when attached to a movie, almost always ensures success to that movie, more or less.
He is very consistent in making popular, excellent and entertaining movies.
But who is Steven Spielberg? Steven Allan Spielberg was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on December 18, 1946.
His father named Arnold is an Electrical Engineer in developing Computers and his mother named Leah is a concert pianist.
He is the oldest and has 3 younger sisters named Annie, Sue and Nancy.
They move to Arizona and went to Arcadia highschool in Phoenix where started his love for movies.
By the age of 12, he made his first amateur film, an 8 minute Western, called the Last Gun.
He charged admission to his home movies and his sister Annie sell popcorns.
At the age of 14, he made a 40-minute war movie entitled Escape to Nowhere.
By 16, he created a 140-minute movie called Firelight, a sci-fi epic based on the story written by his sister Nancy about an UFO attack.
Later on he tried to enroll in a film course at the University of Southern California but was turned down twice.
He then studied English at the California State University at Long Beach and moving into film.
By the age 22, he was signed up as an intern by the Universal Studios.
Then he was mistakenly given a work to do.
In reality it was a 26-minute film entitled Amblin.
Then a Vice President of the Universals' TV saw the film and he became the youngest director ever to be signed in a long term deal with a major Hollywood studios.
This was the beginning of his successful movie career.
He received the Academy Awards for best director for the movie Saving Private Ryan in 1998.
In 1985, he was married to Amy Irving, an actress.
Their divorce in 1989, was the third most costly celebrity divorce in history at the time.
He later married Kate Capshaw, the lead actress in Indiana Jones and Temple of the Doom.
On September 1997 he was involved in a car accident and was treated for an injured shoulder.
On February 2000, his doctor discovered that he had renal cell carcinoma, a form of kidney cancer.
The kidney was later removed.
At 53, he recovered quickly and required no follow-up treatment.
And the rest is history.
Steven Spielberg continues to produce and direct excellent movies one after another.
The list is very long.
Some of my favorites are the Indiana Jones series, and Jurassic Park.
His most memorable film, to me is Schindler's List.
And finally I can't wait to see Indiana Jones 4.
