Car Seat Regulations in Canada
- 1). Position your infant on a backward-facing car seat resting at a 45-degree angle. Do this for all children 20 pounds or lighter, and keep them away from an active airbag.
- 2). Sit toddlers riding forward in the vehicle in the car seat. This should be done for children heavier than 20 pounds and lighter than 40 pounds, and they should be secured with shoulder straps at or above the shoulders and using a tether strap.
- 3). Sit older children of 40 to 80 pounds with a booster seat beneath the child. This should be done for children less than 4-feet-9-inches tall. Use a seat belt and shoulder strap fastened around the waist and above the shoulder.
