LinkedIn Tips
" Often, my business coaching clients ask me for tips when using the site in order to gain a better following and presence.
Here are some of my top tips: 1.
I usually benchmark my activities.
In my LinkedIn home page, I have the "Who's viewed my profile" box active.
If I have less than 1 profile view per day then I consider myself slacking.
2.
So how do you avoid slacking? First, dedicate 15-30 minutes per day to various LinkedIn activities, whether it is answering questions, finding connections, or monitoring groups.
Become active in the "Answers" section, and try to answer any question that looks interesting, even if your answer are not directly related to the question.
(For example, someone might ask, "How do I learn Technology A".
If the context of the question demonstrates that the asker does not know why they need to know Technology A, you might answer with, "Technology A is great, and you will have a wider variety of choices if you also investigate Technology B.
" 3.
Add on to what others have said in the "Answers" section, in the spirit of a true discussion.
4.
Take the bull by the horns and create your own groups.
In the social media and psychology fields, often there is a niche technology or educational program that is about to really take off.
In my case, I created a couple of groups: one for my social media network and the other for a university psychology program.
Anyone who searches for these technologies will find my group.
Many people, upon seeing that I am the group owner, will get the idea that I am an authority in that subject and someone who is approachable.
If you are out to attract prospective customers, you owe it to yourself and the financial future of your business to learn everything you can about social media.
