- 1). Clean the surface of the cupboards with warm water and mild dish washing detergent using a sponge. Rinse with warm water.
- 2). Sand the cupboards with fine or medium-grade sandpaper. This will rough up the slick laminate surface enough to allow paint to hold.
- 3). Apply a coat of primer, using a paint brush, to serve as a base for paint. Allow two to three days for primer to completely cure.
- 4). Sand over the primer lightly with fine-grade sandpaper.
- 5). Apply a coat of oil-based or latex paint with a paint brush to cupboards.
