Experience the rich and diverse history, culture and scenery along the banks of the Mississippi River in Iowa and Mississippi while aboard a riverboat. Choose between a one-day cruise or an overnight cruise that span into other states. Some cruises are only available during the months of March through July when the weather is warmer and the days are longer. Rising water and chilly weather can make it difficult to cruise the river during the fall and winter months. - Sail the Mississippi River and visit several states along the way including New Orleans, Louisiana, and Memphis, Tennessee, to name a few. The eight-day river cruise includes excursions with each stop like a visit to the plantations, including the Houmas House a historical landmark In Vacherie and Burnside, Louisiana. In the picturesque town of St. Francisville, Louisiana, you will explore The Myrtles, known as America's most haunted house. The cruise also stops in Natchez, the oldest city in Mississippi perched 200 feet above the river on a bluff, and explore the battlefields of Vicksburg, Mississippi, which was the location of a 47-day Civil War siege. Helena, Arkansas, was home to seven Confederate generals and is the home of the Confederate Cemetery.
