- 1). Turn on your pool's pump if it is not already running. You'll need the pressure from the pump to assist in dislodging whatever it blocking the skimmer pipe.
- 2). Move the clogged pipe's jandy valve handle back and forth repeatedly to open and close the valve in quick succession. This will cause the clogged pipe to shake and rattle due to the pressure differentiation, and the result often will shake loose any pipe obstructions.
- 3). Turn off the jandy valves on all the other pipes so only the clogged pipe remains open. This helps you insert a pipe cleaning device and ensures it goes to the right location.
- 4). Attach a pool pipe cleaner to the end of a garden hose and insert it into the pipe at the front of the pool pump. Turn on the hose water. The attachment will help the hose to spray a high pressure stream of water that can dislodge any remaining clogs.
- 5). Call a pool technician if the clog still is not cleared. You'll need specialized service to clear the pipe without damaging the plumbing.
