- 1). Single-click the file in Windows Explorer to rename the file.
- 2). Delete the extension from the Byte Upload file (everything after, and including, the period). This will de-associate it from whatever program was attempting to open this file and will let you choose a new program association.
- 3). Open your Start menu and click "Notepad." If you don't see the icon, type "notepad" into the search bar and then click Notepad when it appears.
- 4). Select "Open" from the file menu.
- 5). Browse to and select the Byte Upload file. This will load the contents of the file as plaint text.
- 6). Select "Save As."
- 7). Select "Text (*.txt)" as the type of file. This will save the text as a new file you can easily open later.
