When you're the kind of person who doesn't want to follow the crowd and go for the same boring dining room furniture set in your own home, then go ahead and be a little bit adventurous, I'm sure it won't hurt you to mix and match but there are just little reminders to help you through this task.
When most people buy dining table and chairs in set you need not go this path if you don't want to.
Nowadays stylish and fashionable decorators do not necessarily advise doing so if you don't want to, you can mix up some pieces together as long as they look good together.
By doing this you will give a more personal touch to your home particularly your dining area.
Remember though that when you are trying to mix and match different pieces you have to see that they mesh well, study the designs and consider how they would look with each other, bear in mind that you are doing this to make your dining area look pretty and nice not make it look like it's been designed by your kindergarten the end look must improve the overall design better not worse.
When you want a round dining table you must look for chairs that look good with it.
Dining room furniture must also be functional yet comfortable so when you match them make sure you get the right size and height I relation to one another.
The chair you want may fit other table perfectly but when you match it with your own table it might be too short or too high for you.
So when doing this furniture hunting make sure you research it well first before buying.
