How to Create Photo Strip Prints

104 15
    • 1). Select the photos you want to use for your strip and load them into your image editor. The effect usually works best with three to six photos.

    • 2). Click "File > New" in your image editor to create a new file that you will group all your images into. Set the dimensions to whatever dimensions you want to print at. The most common paper size is 8.5" x 11", so don't make your image larger than that unless you have special paper at your disposal.

    • 3). Determine the size that each photo will have to be by dividing the height of your print strip by the number of photos you will be including. For example, if you are making a print strip that is 10 inches long and will consist of four photos, each photo will be 2.5 inches high. The width of the photo will be the same as the width of your print strip. If you want a thin white line between each photo, you will have to add this into your calculations. The white line is normally about 1/8th of an inch. Make note of these dimensions.

    • 4). Click on the window that contains one of your photos. Select the crop tool from the toolbar. In the tool options at the top of the screen, make sure the width and height dropdown menus are set to inches. Enter the width and height of your image from Step 3.

    • 5). Crop the image by clicking and dragging the cursor across the photo. When the cropping square contains all the parts of the photo you want to print, press "Enter" to accept the crop. Press "Ctrl - A" or "Select All" from the "Edit" menu. Select "Edit > Copy" or "Ctrl - C" to copy your image.

    • 6). Click on the blank document your created for your final photo strip. Press "Ctrl - V" or "Edit > Paste" to paste your image in the window. Use the cursor to reposition your image in the window by clicking and dragging your mouse. Save your work.

    • 7). Repeat Steps 4 to 6 until all the images have been placed in your new window in a straight line. Press "Ctrl - P" or "File > Print" to print the image. Insure that "photo paper" is selected from the "paper type" dropdown menu in your print dialogue. Sometimes this dropdown menu is located within the "Properties" tab. Load the photo paper into your printer and click "OK" to print.
