- 1). Go to the home screen on your iPod Touch and tap the blue "App Store" icon.
- 2). Search for an app that allows you to make phone calls, such as Skype, Fring or Truphone. These services connect your calls over the Internet, and they offer both free and paid services. Generally, when you call another user who has the same app, the call is free, but when you dial a landline or a regular cellphone number, you must pay a fee.
- 3). Tap the app that you want to download; then tap "Buy." Enter your Apple ID and password when prompted.
- 4). Open the app and set up an account. Import your contacts from your phone or enter the information manually. With Skype, your contacts have user names; use the search feature at the bottom of the screen to find them. Whenever they are online, you can tap their user name to call, video call or instant message them. Truphone allows you to call Skype and GTalk as well as Truphone users for free.
