- 1). Choose which McAfee software package you would like to load onto your computer. McAfee offers wide array of software security options on its website. Go online and shop for the choice that best suits your needs (see Resources).
- 2). Click "Buy Now" below the package you want to download, click "Yes, add to cart," click "Checkout," provide your debit or credit card information and finalize the purchase. Access your email, open the message sent to you by McAfee and click the provided link. You will be redirected to an automated download. Choose to save the downloaded file on your desktop.
- 3). Double-click the downloaded file on your desktop. The installer will request that you uninstall "Windows Defender," a default Windows security system. Click "OK."
- 4). Choose the "Perpetual" expiry type in the McAfee set-up window and click "OK."
- 5). Select the "Typical" set-up type in the next window and click "Next."
- 6). Select the "Standard Protection" configuration in the set-up window and click "Next."
- 7). Click "Install" in the next window. The McAfee software package will now begin the installation procedure.
- 8). Check to make sure your computer has a stable Internet connection. When the installation is complete, you will be given a window asking if you would like to automatically run a scan when the primary installation is completed. Select "Run Now" and click "Finish."
- 9). Click "OK" in the succeeding page to restart your computer. After your computer reboots, McAfee will be loaded onto your computer. To run a scan, simply click the McAfee icon in the system tray and select to run a scan, or go to your "Program Files" and click the McAfee software application to run a scan from the McAfee control panel.
