How to Insert a Screen Tip in PowerPoint
- 1). Select the text or shape (with a hot spot) where you want to create a screen tip by highlighting it with your left-clicker. Insert a hyperlink by clicking the "Insert Hyperlink" icon (the image of a magnifying glass over the world) on the standard toolbar.
- 2). Wait for the hyperlink dialog box to come up and choose "Existing File or Web Page" under the "Link To" menu. Then, type in the URL of the site to which you wish to link. Click on the world magnifying glass icon if you don't know the URL. This will open up a new browser window and allow you to search for the site.
- 3). Press the "ScreenTip" button, on the top right of the page. The Set Hyperlink ScreenTip dialog box will appear showing you what the current screen tip is; most likely, it will be URL for the hyperlink you just created. Type in a custom screen tip or leave it as i, and click "OK" twice to get you back to your presentation.
