Ideas for Class Reunion Programs
- Put together a slide show filled with pictures from the past. Ask classmates to submit photos they took during the school years and organize them into a presentation. Scan them into your computer and return the photos as soon as you are finished with them. Your classmate will want them back.
- Include a tribute for students who have passed away, whether they died throughout the school years or after graduation. You can include a written tribute to these individuals in any handout for the evening, or you can include their photos in the slide show; add to the photos the classmate's name and year of passing.
- Ask those coming to the reunion to fill out a small questionnaire that includes questions pertaining to the date they were married, how many children or grandchildren they have, where they live and such, and return it to you by email before the reunion. During the festivities, hand out awards for the graduate who has been married the longest, who has the most children or who has made the longest trip to the reunion. Ask the winner to come up to the stage to receive a prize. Make sure the prizes are something the winner can transport home easily, such as a T-shirt from your school.
- Ask a classmate or former teacher to present a short speech or message that is presented during the program. Ask the person to speak about something that is touching, humorous or inspirational about this group. Limit the speech to 15 minutes or less to avoid losing the guests' attention.
- When the guests enter the reunion, ask each to write something about themselves that others might not expect, such as the graduate has climbed Mount Everest. Make sure they place their name on the paper. Have the emcee ask the questions at times sprinkled throughout the evening and see if the classmates can guess who among them has achieved the unexpected.
