How to Convert a Mini DV to DVD With Software
- 1). Launch your video conversion software and create a new project file for your Mini-DV to DVD transfer.
- 2). Connect the FireWire cord from your camera to the computer's FireWire port. Turn the camera on and insert the Mini-DV tape. Rewind the tape to its starting point.
- 3). Capture the Mini-DV footage from your camera using your conversion software. You will need to specify a place on your computer's hard drive to store the captured footage. Do not fast-forward, rewind or touch the camera as the conversion software captures the footage.
- 4). Save the project file before starting the conversion process.
- 5). Insert a blank DVD disc into your computer's DVD burner. Exit out of any windows that may pop up asking you what you would like to do with the disc.
- 6). Click the button in your conversion software that creates a DVD from the captured footage. Some conversion tools may give you the option to create a DVD menu for footage organization, which may be helpful when navigating the disc in the future.
- 7). Close the DVD disc so that no other data can be written to the media. Closing the disc also makes it readable on DVD players.
- 8). Test the disc in a home DVD player, or by removing the disc from your computer and reinserting it back into the drive.
