Easy Free Motion Quilting & Embroidery

106 11

Definition: Free motion refers to sewing without the machine feeding the fabric. A darning foot is used with the feed dogs lowered on the sewing machine, allowing totally free movement of the fabric.

Obtaining even stitching may require practice.

Free motion embroidery is an art! You create your own design and use the sewing machine free hand to draw and fill in your design. The feed dog is dropped and a darning foot is used.

The challenge is to keep your hands moving in unison with the sewing machine to create even stitches.

Examples: Free motion stitching allows me to stipple and embroider without having a programed machine doing the stitching.
