You need to be very aware of affiliate fraud as it has been increasing over the last several years.
That would be another great reason why you should keep your eye on your affiliates.
When talking about fraud, you should be careful about these two types of frauds: Malware fraud which usually represent some type of specially designed software that is installed on the computer and when someone clicks on the affiliate link, it is replaced with the fraud affiliate ID, which means that true affiliate lose his sales.
Fake purchases are another type of affiliate fraud you should be aware of.
If you have a product with high price and you pay high commission for every sale, some parties could be signing up with fake credit card information using their affiliate links just to get their commissions while leaving you with fraudulent sales.
Be sure to communicate with your affiliates, especially with the high performers.
Many of them are very busy and they could forget about your program, your products and services, especially if they work with many similar affiliate programs.
They could just accidentally drop your program from their list and that will mean less sales for you.
Take your time and stay in contact with them.
Contact them periodically, inform them of any new additions to the program or ask them for their opinions or advices.
Don't wait for them to contact you because that usually means they will report problems with your program.
If you show your interest in them as a vital part of your business, you will gain more respect and higher reputation as you will show that you are truly interested in the partnership.
Some affiliate programs make a big mistake as they believe they need a new product as an excuse to contact their affiliates.
That's not true and you shouldn't think like that.
Send them a quick note and ask them if they need anything.
Show them that you are around, still live and still interested in their business, which is also your business.
Running a successful affiliate program is not an easy task, everybody knows that, and it's not something that can be fully automated.
So you will have to get involved to have happy affiliates.
