Proper and healthy food habits is the most important and essential part of any diabetes management plan.
Unlike other diseases more than controlling what to eat one needs to be careful of what to eat and when to eat.
In order to manage sugar levels one should eat same amount of food at the same time regularly.
More than the intake of protein and fat one must regulate the intake of carbohydrates.
Eating the same quantity of the carbohydrate in each meal helps maintain the level of blood sugar.
The diabetic patient must eat the right quantity of food depending on the medication prescribed to him by his physician.
Another important part of the diabetes management plan is physical exercise.
When an individual exercises the muscles in the body use the glucose for energy and this helps in reduction of blood sugar levels.
A diabetic patient must always get the approval of his or her doctor before starting on any physical activity.
Utmost care must be taken to drink lots of fluid while exercising.
Medication is very important to control blood sugar levels.
Proper medication should be taken to lower blood sugar levels and control it.
The proper dose as prescribed at the instructed time should be taken.
The effect on the medicine can vary with the intake of other medicines.
Thus, no medicine should be taken without the permission of the doctor or the pharmacist as care needs to be taken that the medicine should not affect the blood sugar levels.
Apart from the above one also needs to take care of alcohol intake and not be stressed about things on life as both can affect the blood sugar levels.
It is always good to be well informed of all the things that can affect blood sugar levels so that if any fluctuation is anticipated, preventive measures can be taken in time.
