A Scuba Diving Charter in the BVI
Here you can encounter amazing drops, reefs, wrecks and outcrops, teeming with active marine life.
A great way to explore this magical undersea world is by a scuba diving yacht charter.
A private yacht gives you access to even most remote diving locations.
For advances divers we suggest chartering a yacht that offers "onboard diving" which means that the boat carries all the necessary diving gear.
Many of these yachts offer diving courses for beginners as well.
A selection of boats with onboard scuba diving in the BVI is large - they range from small sailing boats to large mega yachts.
For those only casually diving, chartering a yacht specifically designed for diving isn't necessary; you will be able to explore all the wonderful diving places by "rendezvous diving" with a local dive company.
The dive company will meet you at your yacht, take you out for your diving adventure, and then bring you back to your yacht just in time for your afternoon cocktail.
A tip: the best time for BVI scuba diving is from mid-December to around mid-May for optimal weather.
However, mild temperatures coupled with warm water make the BVI a great year-round scuba diving destination.
Some of the most famous diving spots in the BVI are: RMS Rhone An ocean steamer, 310 feet in length sank off Salt Island during an extremely violent hurricane in 1867.
After 117 years of silent slumber in 20-80 feet of water, this great ship remains remarkably intact with much of her decking, rigging, steam engine and propeller still visible.
The Indians The Indians are four large rock formations that rise from the ocean floor to a height of about 90 feet.
This site is considered to be one of the best spots for macro life in the BVI's.
Caves The caves at Norman Island can provide many hours of fun for snorkelers.
The reef in front of the shallow caves slopes downward to a depth of 40 feet.
Cooper Island The southeastern shore of Cooper Island, called Markoe Point, is a sheer rock wall that plunges some 70 feet to the ocean floor.
