How to Make a Garden Fountains
- 1). Plug the hole in the bottom of the 8-inch clay pot with silicone sealant. This pot will be the reservoir for the fountain system. Allow the silicone to dry for the time recommended on the product label.
- 2). Place the pump in the bottom of the 8-inch pot. Connect the water feed tube and the overflow tube to the pump. Drape the overflow tube, the water feed tube and the power cord over the edge of the pot.
- 3). Create a small cage of chicken wire to protect the pump from damage. Place the chicken wire around the pump.
- 4). Fill the 8-inch clay pot with the stones. Be careful not to damage the water feed tube, the overflow tube or the power cord.
- 5). Place the 6-inch clay pot -- the spillover pot -- on top of the stones in the larger pot.
- 6). Thread the feed tube through the hole in the bottom of the 6-inch pot. Seal around the opening, including the tube, with silicone sealant. Allow the sealant to dry completely.
- 7). Add a few rocks to the 6-inch spillover pot to hide the water feed tube.
- 8). Fill the 8-inch pot with water, just to the top of the stones. Plug in the pump.
