How to Set Up a Personal Page on the Web
- 1). On your computer, log onto the Internet and go to the site of your choice where you wish to create a personal page. Click on the registration area for new members.
- 2). Fill in your real name and the other specific details requested in the registration area, such as city, state, country and date of birth. When your preliminary membership profile is complete, save your information.
- 3). Open your email program and look for a confirmation email. Follow the instructions in the email. It will usually request that you click on a link to confirm your request to join the website.
- 4). Return to the site to continue to edit your personal web page. Add in all the information you wish to include about yourself, such as hobbies, favorite books and music or current job. Make sure the content is appropriate to the nature of the site you have chosen (for instance MySpace for music, LinkedIn for professional networking). Save often as you work.
- 5). Preview the page to make sure you have included everything. Edit as needed.
- 6). Upload a photo if you like by following the instructions on how to complete your online profile and member's page. Publish your personal web page.
- 7). Repeat Steps 1 through 6 for each social networking website for which you would like to create a personal page.
