Instructions on Making an Ottoman
- 1). Paint the legs of the coffee table the desired color. Leave the legs as is if you are satisfied with them.
- 2). Cut the foam rubber with the bread knife so it fits the top of the table. Spray the table top with spray adhesive. Align the foam rubber over the table and drop it on the table top, pressing the rubber onto the adhesive to ensure good contact. Cut foam rubber panels to fit the side panels of the coffee table immediately beneath the top. Attach the foam rubber pieces to the side panels of the table with spray adhesive.
- 3). Cut the fabric and quilt batting to cover the top and sides of the coffee table, plus an additional four inches. Place the fabric, right side down, on a smooth surface. Place a single layer of quilt batting on top of the fabric. Center the coffee table, upside down, on the fabric and batting so the foam table top rests on the quilt batting.
- 4). Starting in the center of one side of the table, pull the fabric and batting taut and staple the fabric to the coffee table. Repeat on the opposite side, then staple the fabric in the center of the two remaining sides to the table. Continue stapling the fabric, working from the inside to the outside corners. Miter the corners before stapling them.
- 5). Turn the table right side up. Smooth the fabric. Set a tray on top for beverages to use the ottoman as a coffee table.
