Shy Bladder Hypnosis: What's Involved?
Hypnosis is used for lots of conditions like paruresis. It tackles deeply held beliefs and fears that you'd love to leave behind but can't do with your rational, conscious, mind.
And, fortunately, shy bladder hypnosis has a good success rate.
So, what's involved?
The good news is that you won't be imitating a stage hypnosis show so you won't be clucking like a chicken or doing anything else stupid.
Hypnosis is like a heightened form of day dreaming.
Your reaction will be different each time as your mind will be in a different "place", thinking about all the different things you normally think about.
But regardless of that, the deeply implanted instructions in your hypnosis session will make their way through to the correct parts of your mind and will start to work their magic.
Most hypnosis sessions will start by getting you to relax. This is something we tend to less and less of as we grow up but it's a good thing to do. In the case of a paruresis hypnosis session, it will almost certainly be the first few minutes.
You'll be taken into a deeply relaxed state. You'll still be conscious of the world around you - so if a fire alarm went off you'd still react - but you may only have a hazy recollection of what's happening. That's perfectly normal when you undergo hypnosis.
Once the hypnotist sees that your relaxation has gone far enough, the main hypnotic session will start.
This involves planting a series of suggestions in your mind that will help you to overcome the various components of your shy bladder syndrome.
Depending on the severity of your problem, the hypnotist will change how they deal with your issues.
For instance, you may be able to use cubicles in public rest rooms but not the stalls. Or you could be OK with relatively quiet restrooms but not ones in busy locations.
Or you could find that you can't even approach a public restroom without fear and trepidation.
All of these symptoms are readily treatable with hypnosis.
If your paruresis is severe then you may find that it's best to attend a session with a local hypnotherapist who can tailor the session to your precise needs. If this is the case, it may be worth asking for a recording of the session so that you can re-play it at a later stage if you need a top up.
But most people find that a pre-recorded shy bladder hypnosis MP3 works fine.
These are created by professional hypnotists who would otherwise be delivering a personal session.
They're designed to cope with a wide range of severity and they also have the advantage that they are discrete. No-one will know that you suffer from shy bladder syndrome because no-one other than you will know what you're listening to in the first place.
