Conclusions
Although vortioxetine has previously demonstrated efficacy in patients with GAD, vortioxetine was not shown in this study to be superior to placebo in reducing HAM-A scores in individuals with a primary GAD diagnosis. These findings are also in contrast to earlier trials demonstrating substantial treatment benefit with vortioxetine in patients with MDD. Although the reasons for the inconsistent results remain unclear, they are not unique to this compound. Overall, the results of this study contribute to the favourable safety and tolerability profile of vortioxetine, including no evidence of vortioxetine-induced sexual dysfunction.
