    Processor

    • The Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 has an Intel Pentium Dual-Core T2310 processor for the L40-15D model and an Intel Celeron M 440 processor for the L40-12R laptop. The Celeron processor has 1 MB of level 2 cache with a front side bus that runs at 533 MHz and a clock speed of 1.86 GHz. The Pentium Dual-Core processor also has 1 MB of level 2 cache and a 533-MHz front side bus, but operates at a clock speed of 1.46 GHz.

    Construction

    • Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 laptops are 14.37 inches wide, 1.45 inches tall and 10.61 inches deep. The L40-15D has a starting weight of 6.17 lbs. while the L40-12R has a starting weight of 5.95 lbs. Both laptops have two USB 2.0 slots on the rear and one on the right side of the unit. These computers also have a microphone and headphone jack, a DC-in, an RJ-11 and RJ-45 connector as well as an output for an external monitor. Two memory card slots and one ExpressCard slot are also found on the laptops.

    Memory, Hard Disk and Optical Drive

    • The Toshiba Satellite Pro L40-15D contains 512 MB of DDR2 RAM, operating at 667 MHz. The L40-12R has 1,024 MB of the same type of RAM. Both models expand to a maximum of 2,048 MB of RAM. These laptops have a S.M.A.R.T. certified hard drive that runs at 5,400 rpm. The L40-15D has a maximum capacity of 80 GB of storage while the L40-12R has a maximum capacity of 120 GB. Both models use a double-layer, DVD Super Multi Drive that reads and writes at a maximum of 8x for DVDs and 24x for CDs.

    • Toshiba Satellite Pro L40 laptops feature a 15.4-inch TFT display with a maximum resolution of 1,280 by 800 pixels. These units have a maximum external refresh rate of 85 Hz and a maximum external resolution of 1,920 by 1,440 pixels. The L40-15D utilizes an Intel GMA X3100 with up to 358 MB of shared memory while the L40-12R uses an Intel GMA 950 with up to 256 MB of shared graphics memory. Both laptops support Ethernet LAN and Wireless LAN connections as well as Wi-Fi and 802.11b/g networks.
