- 1). Wipe down the wood furniture with a damp washrag or cloth to remove surface dirt and dust.
- 2). Dampen a soft, white cloth with your mineral oil product. Apply as much as you can without dripping onto the floor or saturating your hands.
- 3). Rub the mineral oil into your wood furniture. If possible, work in the direction of the wood's grain to allow for faster, deeper absorption.
- 4). Allow the oil to soak in for 5 to 10 minutes; you will be able to see the change in the color of the wood as the oil is absorbed.
- 5). Apply a second coat to the furniture and allow it to soak in. Continue to apply oil until it fails to soak in after 15 minutes. This indicates that the wood is saturated with oil.
- 6). Wipe away excess oil from the surface with a separate clean white cloth. You must wipe away the excess, or the oil can dry on the surface and create an uneven finish. The wood will air-dry on its own.
