In your favor, digital cameras are not nearly as expensive as they were years ago.
Their price drop has been dramatic.
Even normally over priced SLR cameras are now cheaper than what I paid for my first compact digital camera.
As they get easier and easier to operate, it's also true, that Grandma and Grandpa will have a much easier time adjusting to the "new" technology.
